Waldwick, NJ, USA and Dubai, UAE — The Celebration of Healthcare Heroes, held on the opening night of World Health Expo (WHX) Dubai 2026, will proudly honor Dr. Aysha Ali Ahmed Abdulla Almahri, Regional CEO of Al Ain Region Hospitals, Burjeel Holdings, for her groundbreaking leadership and unwavering dedication to patient care. She is an inspiration and role model for young women entering healthcare.
Taking place on February 9, 2026, beneath the iconic Al Wasl Plaza dome at Expo City Dubai, the event brings together healthcare leaders, government officials, and key influencers for an evening dedicated to recognizing those who are shaping the future of healthcare. The event is uniquely designed to inspire students and young people from across the UAE who will be present, offering them the rare opportunity to interact with role models whose lives and careers exemplify courage, purpose, and impact — our real-life superheroes.
Dr. Almahri’s journey began not in a boardroom, but at the bedside. When she first put on her nursing uniform, her goal was simple: to care for people when they needed it most. Through long shifts, night duties, and moments of uncertainty, she discovered that empathy, patience, and service are not only the heart of nursing — they are the foundation of great leadership.
While balancing demanding clinical work, Dr. Almahri pursued her education with relentless determination, graduating among the top of her class at the University of Sharjah. Her career progressed step by step — from bedside nurse to charge nurse, Chief Nursing Officer, and eventually into executive leadership. Along the way, she recognized a critical gap: nurses, who understand patients and healthcare systems intimately, were rarely given a voice at the decision-making table. Rather than accept that limitation, she set out to change it.
Today, as Regional CEO of Al Ain Region Hospitals, Dr. Almahri leads a complex network of tertiary, secondary, and primary care facilities, integrating services across the region to improve outcomes for entire communities. She champions innovation, embraces data-driven and AI-enabled healthcare, and builds systems that reflect both operational excellence and human compassion.
As a woman — and a nurse — her ascent to leadership was not without challenge. Yet she accepted leadership opportunities not for personal recognition, but because she knew they would open the door for future generations of nurses who could lead. “I didn’t want to be individually successful,” said Dr. Almahri. “If I failed, I knew I was failing my fellow nurses in the future. It was a heavy responsibility. But with that responsibility also came the potential to make a tremendous impact.” Dr. Almahri chose courage — she was determined to succeed not just for herself, but for those who would follow.
Recognized by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and named among the Top 10 Women Leaders in the Middle East, Dr. Almahri remains deeply grounded in service. Her proudest achievement is not her titles, but the young women who see her story and begin to believe in their own potential.
By honoring Dr. Almahri at the Celebration of Healthcare Heroes — in front of students and aspiring healthcare professionals — the event reinforces its core mission: to inspire the next generation of leaders by showcasing real journeys of perseverance and purpose. Her story sends a powerful message to young people, especially young women: that with compassion, they too can become great leaders.
The Celebration of Healthcare Heroes is hosted by Kallman Worldwide, organizer of the U.S. industry presence at WHX Dubai for 31 years, as part of its CSR initiative, Kallman Foundation. The event is part of the foundation’s broader commitment to inspiring young people around the world to follow their dreams and build the pipeline of future STEM leaders.
